Tracking Click-thru's Inside Your Website
IHR typically sends a substantial, and highly targeted, amount of click-thru traffic to
client websites. However, some clients additionally want to track how many of those
click-thru users took some action on their website, such as completing an
information-request form.
Here are a couple of
methods for tracking this action:
- Add a dedicated form for IHR traffic. This is probably the simplest
method. IHR can send a user directly to a dedicated action form on your
website and you can then see what percent of them actually complete your form.
One downside of this method, though, is that IHR has to send the user to your
dedicated form (rather than your home page), otherwise the users would have no way of finding the
dedicated form once on your website.
- Track the user thru your website via cookies. You can also track
users thru your website, by placing a "cookie" (i.e. a small piece of computer
code) on their computer. IHR can send the users to any page on your website
and you can then track them until they complete a particular action, such as
completing a form. Your website developer should be able to help you with
this.
