Setting up Your Desktop Email Application
if IHR Hosts Your Email

For IHR hosting clients who have a Domain Name, IHR sometimes hosts the email. In such cases, you might have an email address, such as "info@fertilityclinic.com". You will need to set up your email software on your office or home computer to access the IHR hosted email.

Many desktop email applications allow users to access more than one mail server when you log click on "get mail."  In order to do this, you will need to set up a your email application to access the new email account. In Eudora application, this is called a "personality". Use the following instructions to set up your email application.

1) Find the place inside your email software where you can set up a new email account to access.  For example, in the Eudora application, this is called a "personality" and you can set up a new account as follows:

  a) Click on Tools / Personalities.  The left window pane opens to show any current personalities.  There should be a minimum of one (called "<Dominant>").

  b) Right click inside the window.  A mouse menu displays.

  c) Click on "New" and a Wizard displays to guide you through the set-up process. Go to the next step to see the information you need to enter.

2) Set up your email client software (e.g., Eudora or Outlook) with the following:

Field to complete: Enter the following:
POP server (or incoming mail server) Enter your domain name, such as "fertilityclinic.com"
User ID Enter the User ID sent by IHR
Password Enter the password sent by IHR
User Full Name (real name) Enter your full name and title if you wish, such as "John Jones, M.D."
Return Address Enter the email address, such as:
  • doctor@fertilityclinic.com
  • info@fertilityclinic.com

3) The above entries should be sufficient.  DO NOT enter a value for an SMTP server (or it may be called outgoing server).

4) Send an email to your email address (e.g., doctor@fertilityclinic.com)

5) Wait a few minutes, then use the information above to access your email.

6) Ask colleagues or friends to send you emails, then reply to their emails. Make sure it all works to your satisfaction.
